My elearning reflection

05/29/2014

My favorite part of eLearning was making videos.  I liked making the videos because there were super fun to make and were put on the announcements.  My favorite video that we made was the video where I was the super hero and defeated the evil villain (grayson).  I liked this video because it was pretty cool.

I learned a lot about technology.  I learned how to blog and vlog.  I also learned how to kahoot, how to code, and so much more.  I love making kahoots.  My favorite kahoot is called the cool kahoot.  Over all I loved this year of elearning, I am so joining next year!

Are you guys happy that ISTEP is almost over? I am! Be sure you are doing these things while taking ISTEP:
~Get a good nights sleep the night before, ( preferrably 8 hours and above.)
~Have a healthy breakfast in the morning
~Stay calm, (DON'T LET THE STRESS MONSTER ATTCK YOU)
~ Restate the question in your answer
~Check your work, (this is VERY important)
~Always have a #2 pencil with you, (No mechanical pencils or pens)
~If you don't understand the question, read it again
As long as you complete all these steps while taking ISTEP, you will be just fine!

Technology Improves Show Quality for Blind Theatre-Goers

02/27/2014

If you’ve ever been to a professional theatre, you know how overwhelming it can be! Now imagine what it would be like if you were short one of your five senses! Recently, however, a new device has set out to make drama enjoyable for everyone. This product is D-Scriptive, a small ear-piece that became available through Sound Associatives in 2006.

Currently it is available at 6 different on-Broadway shows, including The Lion King and Wicked.  Thanks to the theatre’s cooperation, D-Scriptive is available for free to anyone who needs it while in the theatre. Only last year, the service was used 2,217 times in one theatre alone.

Creating the device was a challenge, mainly because every Broadway show is slightly different, since it is a live performance. So, playing a single audio track for every performance of the show wouldn’t work - before long, the audio would lag behind the action on stage, or vice-versa.

To solve this problem, Sound Associatives recorded multiple audio files for every show - nearly 600 for The Lion King. The theatre’s stage manager selects which file will be played each night, based on the actors in the show, the number of people present in the theatre, and a number of other variables. Also, to fine-tune the timing, a theatre employee is in touch with the D-Scriptive computer throughout the show, lining up timing and adding descriptions when needed.

According to a few sight-impaired viewers, they still feel as if they do miss much of the experience. “I sometimes feel like asking for half of my money back, because I miss a lot,” said Vicky Winslow, a blind New-Yorker who has a passion for theatre. However, it does improve the show when compared to how it was in the past. “The details that they gave were things that no one else — not even people who know me and describe things to me — would think to tell me,” Ms. Winslow admitted. All in all, D-Scriptive is a service that has made attending plays more enjoyable for everyone.

InkleWriter

Hello! I have found an awesome (please note how I underline “awesome”) website! If you didn’t read the title, it’s called InkleWriter. It allows you to make interactive stories. #YES!!!!! I tried to make it using paper... it aint easy!

InkleWriter makes it SO MUCH EASIER! Before I used keynote (there is a feature that allows you to make a button), but inklewriter definitely has more features for interactive story writing. It’s made for interactive stories after all. Let me just introduce you to some features.

The art of INKLEWRITING

First off, you better know the link (psst... It’s inklestudios.com/inklewriter). If you do happen to just type in inklewriter.com, a screen like this will come up...

See that button in the top right corner that says inklewriter? Yeah, that one. click it. That’s another way to get there, but I personally think it’s easier to just type in the website... using the web bar. PLEASE DO NOT USE GOOGLE. I know it works, but it drives me insane when people use GOOGLE! Helloooooo! There is a faster way to get there. Just in case you have awful memory, here is the link again~ inklestudios.com/inklewriter. You are welcome.

Now, click on start writing. This should come up:

Please note: you DO NOT have to make an account. However, if you want to, you won’t need an email! Simply type in username@inklewriter instead. The only con against it is they won’t be able to email you if you forget you’re email, or password.

I’m not going to get into everything, so I recommend the tutorial. ;)

what I DO recommend you do is make an account.

Inklewriter isn’t just for interactive stories you know!

You can use for notes, interactive presentations, or just a fun way to teach!

Why are you still reading this?
